Addis Ababa, June 10, 2024 – Ethiopian Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa, met with Finland’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Development, Ville Tavio, and his delegation to discuss potential development cooperation between the two nations.
During the meeting, Minister Habtamu Itefa acknowledged Finland’s support in the fields of clean drinking water supply and meteorological information.
The COWASH project, supported by the Finnish government, was highlighted for its efforts in constructing small water infrastructures in rural areas to provide clean water access. Additionally, the cooperation in meteorological services was recognized as another example of collaboration between the two countries.
Ville Tavio, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, emphasized that his country has a long-standing history of being a significant development partner to Ethiopia.
He stated that remarkable and successful works have been accomplished through cooperation and development efforts, and that the focus will be on strengthening the partnership and cooperation in the future.
Ambassador Asfaw Dingamo, Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation at the Ministry of Water and Energy of Ethiopia, noted that the COWASH project has significantly benefited many households.
