Addis Ababa, October 9, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia has expanded access to digital public health services for over 25 million families, the Ministry of health stated. It was stated during the first ComCare conference in Africa which took place in Addis Ababa focused on digital public health information systems,
The conference, organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with Dimagi, brings together leaders and experts from 19 African countries to discuss advancements in digital health.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Ayele Teshome, Minister of State for Health, emphasized the significant impact of digital public health systems in advancing healthcare delivery. He highlighted that the initiative is particularly beneficial for rural communities, where it will assist over 6 million households and 25 million families in receiving quality healthcare services.
The Ministry is prioritizing the modernization of the health system, aiming to transition public health services to a paperless model for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
Dr. Ayele expressed gratitude to Jonathan Jackson, CEO of Dimagi and ComCare software, along with other partners and participants, for their support in coordinating the conference. Jackson praised Ethiopia’s dedication to implementing the software, underscoring its potential to enhance service quality.
