Addis Ababa, July 19, 2023 (FBC) – The Government of Ethiopia and its development partners have signed a compact Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth 36 million USD for a 3 years interim joint financing of Family planning commodities.
Ethiopian Ministry of Health, Lia Tadesse along with Eyob Tekalign, State Minister of Finance, signed the MoU with development partners from Gates Foundation, USAID, Packard Foundation and from the Government of Netherlands.
On the signing ceremony Ministry of Health, Lia Tadesse said that the signed compact helps Ethiopia in its procurement of Family Planning products by contributions to fill the finance gap.
She said that access to Family Planning is a key health and development intervention.
The Health Minister expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the developmental partners and collaborators for their commitment and successful launch of the Compact.
It is stated that the signing of the Compact MoU for Family planning commodities is a major step forward in ensuring access for women and girls in Ethiopia to have family planning services they need.
