Addis Ababa, October 16, 2021 (FBC) – National Disaster Risk Management Commission stated that Ethiopia is still covering 70 percent of the ongoing humanitarian assistance being delivered to people in need from its own resources.
Commission of National Disaster Risk Management Commission, Mitiku Kassa briefed representatives of several relief agencies operating in Ethiopia on the ongoing humanitarian activities in the country.
Mitiku said the global climate change is wreaking natural disasters that are putting lives of many Ethiopians at risk.
Ethiopia has been working to address the alarming climate change related hazardous conditions under humanitarian coordinating institution if formed after the 1975 plague that claimed lives of hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians.
International Day for Disaster Reduction was celebrated in Ethiopia for 13th round yesterday in the presence of officials of international organizations, members of the diplomatic community and higher officials.
