Addis Ababa, July 10, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia committed to work hard to realize Arusha declaration that aims to end TB in 2030, said the Ministry of Health.
Ethiopian delegation, Dr. Dereje Dhuguma, the Minister of State for Health, has participated on African Regional TB meeting that aims to accelerate progress toward ending TB in 2030. Organized by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the meeting was held in Tanzania, Arusha.
While highlighting Ethiopia’s ‘effective’ progress in TB prevention and control, the Minister of State said: “Ethiopia’s achievement in significantly reducing MDRTB incidence and prevalence helped the country move out from the list of high MDRTB burden countries.”
Moreover, Dr. Dereje called on partners, such as the Global Fund, Stop TB Partnership and WHO, to continue supporting countries that are on track in reducing TB incidences.
Unfortunately, countries with good progress are suffering from funding reduction, he reminded.
