Addis Ababa, November 17, 2024 (FBC) – At the COP29 conference in Baku, Ethiopia and China joined forces at the “Belt and Road” Climate Mitigation and Adaptation Side Event to enhance their collaboration on green initiatives.
Ethiopia’s Planning and Development Minister, Fitsum Assefa, emphasized the country’s Green Legacy Initiative, which has successfully planted over 40 billion trees, increasing forest cover to 23.6% and generating job opportunities.
The event also showcased Ethiopia’s green energy exports to neighboring countries including Kenya, Sudan, and Djibouti, highlighting efforts for regional integration and sustainability.
The partnership aims to advance green development as part of the Belt and Road Initiative, aligning with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
