Addis Ababa, November 8, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopian Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Dr. Ergoge Tesfaye, recently met with Gloria de la Fuente González, Chile’s Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, to discuss collaborative efforts on pressing social issues.
During their conversation, Dr. Tesfaye emphasized Ethiopia’s goal to align its political framework with Chile’s to enhance women’s involvement in various national activities. She noted that Ethiopia is developing a comprehensive 10-year strategic plan aimed at empowering youth and supporting vulnerable populations.
Dr. Tesfaye expressed optimism that bolstering ties with Chile in these areas would facilitate the implementation of the proposed initiatives nationwide. In response, González highlighted Chile’s commitment to a foreign policy centered on women’s empowerment, citing successful collaborations with countries like Canada as a model.
According to the Ministry’s statement, the Chilean government is prepared to initiate this partnership by signing memorandums of understanding in both areas and potentially expanding into other sectors.
