Ethiopia, Brazil reaffirm cooperation in science, technology, and skills exchange spheres

Addis Ababa, September 21, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Brazil reaffirmed cooperation in various spheres, as Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Atenafu, welcomed and received copies of the credentials of Jandy Ferreira dos Santos, Ambassador of Brazil to Ethiopia.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Demeke Atenafu, expressed the long-standing diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Brazil since 1961 and the excellent relations that the two countries have enjoyed since then in economic, social, political, and science and technology spheres, among others.

The two sides exchanged views regarding the technical cooperation agreements in various sectors.

Demeke also briefed the Ambassador about Ethiopia’s convenient investment environment in agro-processing, mining, industry, and manufacturing.

He also praised the Brazilians’ active engagement in the sustainable forest management and acid soil management sectors currently in Ethiopia.

In addition, Demeke briefed the Ambassador about the current developments in Ethiopia and the government’s unwavering peace efforts and African Union-led peace process.

Ambassador Jandy Ferreira dos Santos reassured the Chief Protocol to work on enhancing cooperation in technology, skills, and knowledge exchange and partnerships in science and technology.

The Brazilian Ambassador expressed that Brazil strongly believes that African problems should be managed with African solutions.

Furthermore, he stated that Brazil encourages the African Union-led tripartite negotiations on the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD).
