Ethiopia, Belarus agree to strengthen bilateral trade ties

Addis Ababa, October 24, 2022 (FBC) – The Minister of State of the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, Kasahun Gofe, received the Ambassador of Belarus to Ethiopia, Pavel Vziatkin, and spoke to him in his office.

In the discussion, State Minister Kassahun briefed the Ambassador on the activities being carried out to increase foreign trade in Ethiopia in terms of size and type.

He stressed that the business community needs to work together to find market opportunities.

Kassahun added that there is a need to bring about a real change by increasing the trade relationship between the two countries from the current 2.1 million USD.

Ambassador Vziatkin, on his part, stated that his country is interested in creating a reliable market connection with Ethiopia and establishing a relationship between the business communities.

He confirmed that Belarus is working to send tractors and machines that help agricultural productivity to Ethiopia at a reasonable price.

Finally, an agreement was reached to form committees to review trade-related issues between the two countries.
