Addis Ababa, June 12, 2020 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Sugar Corporation has begun stocking 3.1 million quintals to meet demands for sugar this rainy season.
Weyo Roba, CEO of the Corporation, told FBC that preparations have been made to avoid supply shortages when sugar factories undergo maintenance in the rainy season.
There is a stock of 1.1 million quintals of sugar now and works are underway to procure and import additional 2 million quintals, the CEO said.
The country imported 3 million quintals last rainy season to meet the gap between the supply and demand of sugar, according to Weyo.
