Addis Ababa, July 17, 2024 (FBC) – State Minister for Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, discussed with Greek Foreign Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou in Athens.
In their discussion, Ambassador Mesganu briefed the Greek Foreign Minister on government’s measures to ensure lasting peace in Ethiopia.
In particular, he explained about the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement, the tripartite negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the National Inclusive Dialogue and the implementation of the National Transitional Justice Policy.
The Foreign Minister pointed out that Ethiopia and Greece have a historical relationship, stressing the need to further increase their relations in economic and political spheres.
They emphasized the need to cement ties between the two countries particularly in the areas of business, investment, education and training.
Alexandra papadopolo, for her part, stated that Greece and Ethiopia should leverage their long-standing relationship as a good opportunity to expand their cooperation for mutual benefit.
She raised Greece’s experience in renewable energy development and expressed interest to work in cooperation with Ethiopia on climate change.
The two sides have agreed to strengthen economic ties and work together on international agenda of mutual concern and strengthen cooperation in multilateral platforms.
