Ethio-Engineering Group, YTO-CAMACO sign agreement to build a tractor plant

Addis Ababa, June 23, 2023 (FBC) – Ethio-Engineering Group (EEG) and YTO CAMACO, a Chinese agricultural machinery manufacturer have signed an agreement to build a tractor manufacturing plant in Modjo town.

Upon completion, the plant will be capable of producing 50 tractors a day and more than 10,000 tractors a year and will be of great importance to modernize Ethiopia’s agricultural sector, it is stated on the occasion.

EEG CEO, Ambassador Suleiman Dedefo and YTO Senior Project Manager, Wang Sen have inked the agreement representing their enterprises.

In addition to the tractors, the factory is said to produce other agricultural machinery including combiner, harvester, among others as the consensus reached between the two enterprises.

It is stated on the signing ceremony that the construction of the tractor plant will be completed within a short period of time.

Ethio-Engineering Group is a Governmental business enterprise re-established in September 2020 under the Council of Ministers’ Regulation No. 475/2020 as YTO-CAMACO is China’s leading tractor manufacturer.
