Addis Ababa, September 23, 2024 (FBC) – The head of Ethio-Djibouti Railway S.C., Takele Uma, today announced that the Railway has launched a direct transport service for livestock from Ethiopia’s Adama city to Djibouti.
In a post on his social media page, Mr. Takele said, “Today, we’re launching our first livestock export from Adama to Djibouti by rail.”
This approach will maximize the use of Ethio-Djibouti Railway’s open wagons, which were previously used only for imports, the CEO noted.
According to him, this move will also boost export meat quality by minimizing transport stress on animals, showcasing Ethiopia’s commitment to efficient and sustainable trade.
Furthermore, it demonstrates Ethiopia’s dedication to enhancing capital flows across borders, Takele added.
