Addis Ababa, April 7, 2023 (FBC) – Two siblings living in the USA have handed over 7,000 books collected from Ethio-American youth for Grand Abrehot library via the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington.
Ms Ayantu Abebe handed over the books collected by her children to the embassy.
She underscored that the initiative of collecting the books was carried out to ensure her children’s strong bond with Ethiopia and to enable them to be good role models.
The books were collected and handed over to help the libraries to have sufficient access to books so that pursuit of reading in Ethiopia can be developed, Ms Ayantu indicated.
The two sisters said that they collected books of language, biology, history, mathematics, research and other important fields.
Ethiopia’s ambassador to the U.S., Seleshi Bekele, thanked the siblings for the exemplary work done by donating books that will uplift the generation.
The books collected by the siblings, alongside other books donated by other diaspora groups, will be sent to the Grand Abrehot Library in Addis Ababa, according to the Embassy in Washington, D.C.
