Addis Ababa, August 23, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise (ESLSE) stated that it has transported more than 7.9 million tons of import and export cargo, including soil fertilizer, in the 2021/22 fiscal year, 102% -surpassing its plan, in spite of international and local constraints, including COVID pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war.
Roba Megersa, CEO of Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise (ESLSE), stated that the COVID-19 pandemic that disrupted world trade in the last two years, caused port congestion, container shortages, an unprecedented rise in sea freight prices and trade imbalances.
“In spite of these difficult conditions, the enterprise has achieved beyond its plan by transporting more than 7.9 million tons of import and export cargo in the fiscal year”, the CEO said.
He announced that more than 1.28 million metric tons of soil fertilizer has been transported, which is important for the agricultural sector, by sea and land and delivering it to the farmers on time, is another successful service of the enterprise.
