Addis Ababa, June 2, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), in partnership with the USAID, has launched a 117 million Birr project to rehabilitate people who are displaced due to the conflict in East Welega, Ilu Aba Bora, Buno Bedele, Horo Guduru and East Guji zones of Oromia region.
According to Abera Lulesa, Deputy Secretary General of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, the construction of 1,865 shelters and the maintenance of four water facilities affected by conflicts will be carried out under the project.
The ERCS revealed that 101 thousand people will benefit from the project.
He indicated that the cooperation between USAID and ERCS to improve the lives of people affected by the conflict is growing from time to time.
It is learned that the USAID and Ethiopian Red Cross Society were able to benefit 88,000 displaced people in the Amhara, Tigray, Benshangul-Gumuz, and Southern Ethiopia regions with a total cost of Birr 110 million in shelter construction, livelihood restoration, water facility maintenance, and water, sanitation and hygiene in the past 2 years.
