EOTC, MWL discuss rebuilding process and aid to conflict-ravaged areas

Addis Ababa, January 10, 2023 (FBC) – The Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Abune Mathias, held discussion with the Muslim World League (MWL) delegation on the efforts of rebuilding and rehabilitating conflict-affected areas in the country.

Led by Sheikh Hadji Ibrahim Tufa, the president of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council (EIASC) and the chairperson of Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia, the delegates of the MWL met with the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, His Holiness Abune Mathias, in the patriarchate and discussed various mutual issues.

Upon the request by Abdul Aziz Sirhan, MWL Assistant of MWL Secretary General of the League to Sheikh Haji Ibrahim Tufa, the President of EIASC and the Chairperson of the Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia, the delegation held the discussion today at the patriarchate.

In the discussion, Abdul Aziz Sirhan, the head of the MWL delegation, mentioned that they have a plan to provide support the rehabilitation of areas affected by the war in northern Ethiopia.

He also pledged that they are prepared to provide support to the society in conflict-affected areas.

The EIASC indicated that the discussion focused on collaboration for solidarity and peace through cementing national unity.
