Addis Ababa, February 10, 2022 (FBC) – On the occasion of Diplomat’s Day, a traditional flower laying ceremony was held in Addis Ababa at the grave of Konstantin Nikolayevich Lishin (1851-1906), Minister-Resident of the Russian Empire in Abyssinia, who was the originator of diplomatic relations between Russia and Ethiopia.
The ceremony was attended by employees of the Embassy, the Russian Red Cross Hospital (Balcha Hospital) and the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Addis Ababa (Pushkin Center), as well as students from the Embassy school.
Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Evgeny Terekhin addressed the attendees, paying tribute to the first Russian diplomats who in the 19th century laid the foundations for strong intergovernmental ties between Russia and Ethiopia.
