Electric car assembly plant to go operational in 3 months

Addis Ababa, January 13, 2023 (FBC) – A vehicle assembly plant capable of assembling 1,000 electric cars per year in Debre Berhan city will start operating in the next three months.

It is stated that this electric car assembling plant is being built in Debre Berhan with 2 billion Birr capital.

Belayneh Kinde, the owner of the project and CEO of Belayneh Kindie Group, told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that the plant will begin manufacturing in the coming three months.

Upon its completion, he said that the factory has the capacity to assemble 1,000 electric vehicles per year.

When the plant goes operational, Belayneh said that more than 250 electric vehicles will be assembled until the end of the current financial year.

It is mentioned that the factory will create direct employment opportunities for 500 individuals.

It was also stated that Belayneh Kindie Group started assembling internationally recognized IVECO and Golden Bus cars at its factory in Gelan 4 years ago, assembling more than 1200 cars in the process.

It is to be recalled that the Amhara Region Chief Administrator, Yilkal Kefale, has inaugurated the Zema Textile Plant, built with more than 1 billion Birr in Debre Berhan city. He also visited projects being built by the Belayneh Kindie Group in the area.
