Addis Ababa, December 25, 2019 (FBC) – The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said it is making preparations for the 2020 general elections.
In an exclusive interview with FBC, Bizuwork Ketete, members of (NEBE) said more than 20 directives have been prepared following the approval of the revised electoral law by the Ethiopian parliament.
The directives will be tabled for discussion next week, she said, adding from 250,000-300,000 election officials will be recruited for the elections.
NEBE also issued training on electoral law to heads of six out of its nine regional offices. It is also hiring heads for the remaining three regional offices, she said.
According to Bizuwork, the forthcoming election will be conducted in 50, 900 polling stations.
Soliana Shimeles, communication advisor of NEBE’s Chairperson, said printing of ballot papers and other materials necessary for the election is underway at a cost of 9 million US dollars.
The election materials are being printed in five languages, she added.
