Addis Ababa, November 30, 2015 (FBC) – The National Election Board of Ethiopia has officially launched Ethiopia’s National Election Board has officially launched a pilot voters list digitization and voter register audit project with respect to the 6th general election.
The digital registration technology which took a year at preparatory level has been made operation by converting the paper wise voter information of the 6th General Election into a digital database. Subsequently, the election will be audited as per the pilot project, it was stated.
The Deputy Chairman of the NEBE, Wubeshet Ayele, stated that the digital registration will advance the election system. EU and the German government have provided financial support to the digitization activity, he disclosed. UNDP has provided technical assistance to the experts took part in the process, according to the Deputy Chairperson.
It is said that the digital voter register system would help store data securely and make it easily available for any future works.
