Addis Ababa, June 27, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Transport and Logistics of Ethiopia (MoTL) confirmed that efforts are being made to fully restore transport services in all areas of the Tigray region.
A two-day training is being delivered in Mekele on new transport sector laws and procedures, logistics concepts and other preparation to enable officials and experts in the sector at all levels in the region can get to work.
It is stated that the Ministry will continue the support it has started to address the transport services of the Tigray region.
Minister of State for Transport and Logistics Ber’o Hassen said that the initiative shown by the leadership and experts in the transport and logistics sector at various levels in the region to fully restore the service is encouraging.
He underlined the need to work diligently to achieve the desired results through determined engagements.
Tigray Region Cabinet Secretariat Head of Infrastructure, Yalem Tsegay, urged all the stakeholders in the sector to do their part by making proper use of the capacity and the support of the Ministry to address the issues in the region’s transport services.
Tadele Mengestu, Head of the Transport Bureau of the Tigray Region, said that there is a lack of resources to fully recommence the transportation service in the region, emphasizing the need to undertake concerted activities.
It is learned that officials and experts from regional, zonal and woredas transport offices are participating in the training organized by the Ministry in collaboration with Mekelle University.
