DPM Temesgen visits progress of construction process of Bahir-Dar Stadium

Addis Ababa, August 1, 2024 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh visited and inspected the progress of the construction process of Bahir Dar International Stadium in the Amhara regional state capital this morning.

During his visit and inspection of the construction progress, Temesgen was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ethiopia National Defense Forces (ENDF), General Abebaw Taddese, Head of Criminal Investigation Department at the Ethiopian Federal Police Commission, Deputy Commissioner General Zelalem Mengste, and other federal and regional officials.

The officials visited the construction process of the stadium and were briefed by the officials and experts of the Amhara region regarding the strides being made to complete the construction of the stadium. The second phase of construction started in December 2023 and is being built at a cost of 1.8 billion birr, with the construction reportedly reaching 57 percent completion.

The stadium is being built to meet the standards of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and is a collaborative effort involving 47 local and foreign contractors from various sectors.

It has been reported that the manufacturing of standard seats is taking place abroad, and the pitch will be covered with world-class grass, seats, and special hospitality seats, all of which are prepared and laid according to international standards. The construction is expected to be completed in the middle of 2017 E.C.

After inspecting the progress of the construction, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh and his delegation planted tree seedlings around the stadium.
