Addis Ababa, June 26, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen observed the current activities of Dire-Dawa Free Trade Zone in Dire-Dawa.
According to Industrial Parks Development Corporation of Ethiopia (IPDC), the DPM & FM visited textile manufacturers, auto assembly and other companies in the free trade zone.
Dire-Dawa city’s propinquity to the Djibouti port and the presence of the state-of-the-art Ethio-Djibouti railway facility around the city makes the free trade zone an ideal location for business establishments, he added.
During the visit, Demeke was joined by the management of Dire-Dawa Free Trade Zone as well as various officials of Dire-Dawa.
It is mentioned that the Dire-Dawa Free Trade Zone is a free trade zone that is hosting a large flow of investment and is known to be the first in the sector in Ethiopia.
