Addis Ababa, July 13, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, this afternoon met with Foreign Ministers of Malawi and the Gambia, Nancy Tembo and Dr. Mamadou Tangara, respectively.
The DPM & FM briefed the Foreign Ministers on the post-conflict peace consolidation efforts of the Government of Ethiopia and expressed Ethiopia’s keenness to further deepen its relations with the respective nations.
During his meeting with Madame Tambo, Mr. Demeke said, it is high time to take our diplomatic relations to a new height. They agreed to hold regular joint political consultations and combat transnational crimes, chiefly human trafficking affecting both countries.
Demeke also held fruitful discussion on a range of bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest with Dr. Tangara and agreed to bolster cooperation in key areas.
The bilateral meetings took place on the margins of the ongoing 43rd AU Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union in Nairobi, Kenya.
