DPM, FM Demeke affirms Ethiopia’s commitment to enhance economic cooperation with Pakistan

Addis Ababa, March 6, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen along with officials of Ethiopian Investment Commission held discussions with Pakistani business delegation on how to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

Demeke stressed the need to transform the close bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan into a stronger economic cooperation, affirming government’s commitment to strengthen the ties.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and EIC officials have briefed the Pakistani delegation which consists of 80 business people on the flourishing investment opportunities in Ethiopia.

The government has created an enabling climate for foreign investors in the agriculture, manufacturing, mining,tourism and other lucrative sectors, the Ethiopian officials said.

Ethiopian Airlines will start direct flights to Pakistan in the near future so that the people-to -people ties between the two nations will be strengthened.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Ethiopia, Shozab Abas, for his part, pledged commitment to cement economic cooperation between the two countries.
