Adddis Ababa, January 4, 2021 (FBC) – Displaced sheltered in Metekel Zone after they fled recent violence in Benshagul Gumuz called up on the government to rehabilitate and return them to their places of origin.
The displaced who are now sheltered in various camps in Metekel Zone told the media that they have encountered various social and economic problems calling the government to give quick response to the issue and help them return home.
Saying that they have received humanitarian assistances from the federal government and various relief organizations, the displaced urged the government help them return to their home places and maintain rule of law in the areas they abandoned due to unrest.
They demanded that the government safeguard peace and stability in their places of origin so that they can harvest their ripe crops in time.
Metekel Zone is now holding more than 100,000 displaced people who fled their homes due to the unrest in Benshangul Gumuz region that left some 100 citizens dead and hundreds displaced.
