Addis Ababa, January 9, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Minister of Industry, Melaku Alebel, said that the role of heads of missions and ambassadors of Ethiopia is instrumental in the effort to attract competitive foreign companies to participate in priority investment areas.
The training to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, heads of missions, and officials of the ministry’s affiliated institutions continues.
In today’s session, Minister of Industry, Melaku Alebel, gave a presentation on the current state of Ethiopia’s industrial sector.
The Minister, in his presentation, explained the steps taken to develop the sector and the policy reforms made in the last four years.
In recent years, companies and institutions that were previously under the government’s control have been opened up to private companies.
He also mentioned the efforts being made to attract foreign investment to Ethiopia at a high level, challenges faced, and solutions taken to the challenges.
Hence, heads of missions and ambassadors should play a major role in captivating foreign companies with strong foundation and capacities in the manufacturing sector to Ethiopia, Melaku said.
The Minister added that diplomats are expected to provide companies with appropriate information on investment options in Ethiopia and incentives provided by the government.
