Addis Ababa, December 22, 2023 (FBC) – The newly developed Dine for Nation tourism projects that have been developed in various parts of the country would accommodate thousands of visitors at a time, Tourism State Minister Sileshi Girma said via ENA.
Dine for Nation, an initiative by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was launched in August 2020 to develop tourist attraction projects in Gorgora, Wonchi and Koysha.
With its conducive weather and accessibility to both water and road transportation, Gorgora, one of the destinations, is the best and beautiful area for tourists.
The construction of amphitheater that has been built on Lake Tana as well as the port and other service provider facilities has been completed. Upon the construction of the project, Gorgora will be one of the glorious sites of Ethiopia with its gorgeous scenery, it was learned.
Similarly, Koysha and Wonchi are nature wonders. These will contribute for the development of the sector by creating more jobs as well.
Particularly, Wonchi Crater Lake is an ideal site, and has a good appeal to such tourist activities and recreations like hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, sailing, paragliding, relaxing, forest exploring, spa bathing and many other eco-tourism oriented activities.
Koysha, the other newly introduced tourist destination project situated in the green hills of South west Ethiopia, is expected to catch the attention of more tourists across the world as it is endowed with immense natural gifts.
The “Elephant Paw Lodge” is part of the Koysha project situated inside Chebera Churchura Park in South West Ethiopia region. It is located between Konta and Dawro Zones and provides refuge to 37 species of larger mammals.
The park has elephants, buffaloes, greater Kudus, waterbucks, lions, leopards, serval cats, hippopotamus, and warthogs. It also has 140 species of birds, of which 6 are endemic to the country.
According to the tourism state minister, these projects have created many jobs for the respective communities since the commencement of their construction.
Sileshi added that the more the country develops tourist destination, the more the flow of tourists and increase of jobs.
Unlike the existing destinations, the new tourist destinations can accommodate thousands of tourists at a time, he stated.
“With respect to foreign currency generation, the destinations will enable us to earn much foreign currency and also develop other more destinations.”
