Addis Ababa, November 17, 2024 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, alongside senior government officials, including Legesse Tulu from the Government Communication Service, recently toured wheat cluster farming initiatives in the Moret and Jiru district of North Showa Zone, Amhara National Regional State.
Temesgen highlighted the impressive collaboration of local farmers participating in cluster wheat farming over 1,465.5 hectares across three kebeles, noting it exemplifies successful teamwork in agricultural practices.
He remarked on the remarkable increase in agricultural input distribution this year, which has significantly boosted farmers’ productivity in the region.
“Our nation has achieved substantial growth in production, enhancing our capacity for food security and nutrition through higher yields,” Temesgen stated. He expressed optimism about reaching the national goal of self-sufficiency in wheat and emphasized the extensive support and oversight provided to farmers throughout the production season to ensure they benefit from modern agricultural techniques.
