Addis Ababa, May 5, 2020 (FBC) –Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen has held a videoconference today with senior officials of regional states.
The conference is aimed at reviewing the implementation of the state of emergency declared last month to contain the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the nation.
Despite a good start in preventing the pandemic from spreading, challenges are still ahead, said Demeke.
More efforts should therefore be made to implement the emergency decree effectively and bring bout quick behavioral change to prevent the virus, he said.
The participants on their part briefed Demeke on the efforts they have been making to implements the directives issued following the declaration of the state of emergency.
Ethiopia has so far 145 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with four deaths and 91 recoveries.
