Addis Ababa, January 25, 2021 (FBC) -Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen received at his office today the departing ambassador of Israel to Ethiopia, Raphael Morav.
The two sides exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.
Demeke appreciated the historical relationship between the two countries, highlighting the need to reinforce it through various engagements.
The discussion noted the strong cooperation between the two countries in health, agriculture, capacity building, and technology transfer.
The Deputy Prime Minister commended the government of Israel for sending trainers and drones to assist Ethiopia’s fight against locust invasion.
Their discussion also included the efforts made by the Ethiopian government to address the needs for humanitarian assistance in Tigray.
They also noted that the recent border dispute with Sudan and the ongoing negotiations over the GERD should get peaceful resolutions.
Finally, Demeke appreciated Ambassador Morav’s efforts to cement the friendly relationship between the two countries and wished him success in his future endeavors.
