Addis Ababa, June 29, 2021 (FBC) – Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie and State Minister of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Dr. Samuel Urkato have laid cornerstone for of East African TVET Center of Excellence to be built at a cost of 557mln USD in the premises of General Wingate Polytechnic College.
The college secured the 557 Million USD budgetary support from the World Bank for it has met the criteria in the energy sector contest in the region. It is stated that the center will specialize in the electrical and digital skill development and technology transfer area.
On the cornerstone laying ceremony, the Deputy Mayor stressed the irreplaceable role of the TVET sector in speeding up nation’s path to prosperity and transition into the digital economy and technology led advancements in all sectors.
The Science and Higher Education State Minister, Dr. Samuel Urkato, to his part said the center will have a paramount significance in sharing best experiences in the energy area at regional level besides creating competent workforce for local demand.
