Addis Ababa, January 7, 2025 (FMC) – At least 95 people were killed in the powerful earthquake in China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. Another 130 were injured, CCTV reported. Earlier it was known that 53 people died.
A 6.8 magnitude earthquake occurred on the morning of January 7 in Dingri County in the city of Xigaze in Xizang Autonomous Region, Xinhua reports. The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 km. 49 aftershocks were recorded.
At least 1,000 buildings were damaged. President Xi Jinping ordered all-out rescue efforts following heavy casualties.
