Addis Ababa, August 20, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy stated that Close to 6M people have benefit from Consolidated WASH Account (CWA) Phase I project in Ethiopia.
The Ministry along with various global and local stakeholders has evaluated progress of One Wash National Program (OWNP) implementation.
On the occasion, the Ministry stated that the concluded CWA Phase I 5 years program has contributed significantly to lift the WASH coverage in premises of social infrastructural institutions like Health and Education centers at rural and urban areas.
It addressed 4.75 Million People currently and the magnitude will rise to 5.97 Million beneficiaries when the project is fully finalized.
Nearly 10,380 schools and Health facilities benefited from improved water supply and sanitation services, the Ministry indicated.
The initial phase progress of OWNP CWA-II is also putting all preliminary works in right track and expected to meet the ever increasing WASH demands in institutions in both rural and urban dwellings.
Besides it has given due attention to the CR-WASH multi-village water supply schemes.
The 3.2 Billion Birr multi-sector resources planned for the already started Ethiopian Budget year is approved and the steering committee members renewed their commitment to accelerate implementation, the Ministry added.
Representatives from WB, DFID, AfDB, UNICEF, Government of Finland, KOICA and SFD took part in the performance appraisal session.
