Ministerial Committee reviews COVID-19 containment activities

Addis Ababa, May 1, 2020 (FBC) – The National COVID-19 Ministerial Committee met today to review key activities carried out to contain the spread of the virus.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed said on his Facebook page that “Since its establishment the COVID19 Ministerial Committee has been undertaking productive tasks with fruitful outcomes.”

“Today we met again to review key activities and measures undertaken which show good progress. Many lessons learnt in this period that need to be institutionalised,” he added.

“By building on milestones achieved in logistics and ICT innovations as of late, these strengthened capacities will serve our growth better post-COVID19,” the Prime Minister indicated.

Ethiopia has so far reported 133 confirmed cases COVID-19, of which 66 have recovered. Fatalities remain at three.

According to data from Worldometer, the virus has so far sickened more than 3.2 million people, while killing more than 228, 000. The number of people recovered from the virus also increased to more than one million.
