Council sets strategic direction for dev’t of Nat’l E-Gov’t, E-Commerce strategies

Addis Ababa, December 4, 2024 (FBC) – During its fourth regular session convened today, Ethiopia’s National Digital Transformation Council has set the strategic direction for the development of the National E-Government Strategy and the National E-Commerce Strategy, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh said in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

During the meeting, the Council reviewed and approved progress reports and outlined necessary committee arrangements in line with the guidelines established during its third regular meeting, the deputy premier noted.

“Additionally, the Council set the strategic direction for the development of the National E-Government Strategy and the National E-Commerce Strategy, both of which are pivotal for advancing the objectives of Digital Ethiopia,” he said.

Recognizing the rapid growth of the digital economy, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing its role in fostering and supporting this transformative progress, Mr. Temesgen added.

For his part, Minister of Trade & Regional Integration, Kassahun Gofe noted on his social media page that the endorsement of the national e-commerce strategy by the Council will greatly help the efficiency of domestic trade and the growth of export earnings.
