Addis Ababa, January 20, 2020 (FBC) – Construction of two multi-purpose dams are underway in two woredas of Somali Region at a cost of 130 Million Birr, according to region’s Communication Bureau.
Somali Region Water Resources Bureau said the construction of the dams being built in Gerbo and Degahmedew woredas are tailored for addressing shortage of drinking water and supplying irrigation in the areas.
The dams are intended to address drinking water needs and create access for irrigation through collecting rain waters and conserving surface water sources, it is indicated.
The regional communication reported that both of the dam projects are nearing completion.
