Commission say preparatory activities done, discussions with pertinent stakeholders were encouraging

Addis Ababa, April 24, 2023 (FBC) -The National Rehabilitation Commission has been conducting encouraging discussions with pertinent stakeholders, the chairperson of the National Rehabilitation Council, Minister of Peace Binalf Andualem said.
The recently established National Rehabilitation Commission has presented its three months preparation report to the Rehabilitation Commission Council today.

Following the presentation of the report, Chairperson of the council, Minister of Peace Binalf Andualem noted that one of the achievements of the commission is creating clear awareness about the mission and objective of the program for all stakeholders during the preparation period over the past three months which is crucial.

The successive discussions with regional states have been encouraging and this trend has to be continued with the general public as well to have a common understanding on the issue.
The discussion taken place with other partners has also been indicated as the other positive move by the commission.

Among the next priorities is having clear information which is critical about the ex-combatants, adding he said, mobilization of finance is also critically important to fully rehabilitate the ex-combatants as foreign partners show their willingness to support the program.

Commissioner of the commission, Teshome Toga, said the commission is fully committed to start registration of ex-combatants in the coming June, 2023.

For the commissioner, resolving financial constraints and lack of human resources timely is critical issue to start the registration as per the schedule.

Some 50 million USD is needed to fully realize the objectives of the commission.
