Commission holds discussions with diaspora residing in Africa, Middle East and Europe

Addis Ababa, December 23, 2023 (FBC) – The National Dialogue Commission said it has held discussions with the diaspora communities residing in Africa, Middle East and Europe.

Spokesperson of the commission, Tibebu Tadesse briefed the media Friday on the recent developments and efforts undertaken by the commission.

He said that the commission has been in the process of selecting participants and designing an agenda by gathering ideas from the grass roots across the nation.

Moreover, he added that the commission has been carrying out various activities with collaboration of various stakeholders at federal and regional levels in the process of realizing the national dialogue.

He stressed that the selection of participations and awareness will continue he said, adding it will start work on identifying an agenda, per ENA.

On the other hand, the spokesperson elaborated the commission has also held discussions with diaspora residing in Africa, Middle East and Europe.

During discussions at various times with diaspora, the commission explained its mandate and on ways how the diaspora communities support the ongoing national dialogue process, he stated.

They briefed on the basic concept of national dialogue and its benefits for the country.

The commission will continue to hold similar discussions with diaspora communities in other parts of the world and collect ideas that will be input for the national dialogue process, he added.

Recall that the government established the National Dialogue Commission aimed at resolving challenges in Ethiopia through dialogue and create national consensus.
