Addis Ababa, February 10, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Customs Commission has officially confirmed a whopping sum of 97.6 billion birr collected during the initial half of the ongoing Ethiopian fiscal year.
Mr. Debele Kabeta, the Chief Commissioner of the Commission, disclosed that an ambitious target of 103 billion birr was initially set for collection across various revenue categories during the preceding six months, of which 97.6 billion birr has been successfully amassed.
Mr. Debele further elucidated that the revenue comprises contributions from customs duty, excise tax, value-added tax, and assorted tax and non-tax revenues.
This year’s accomplishment, when compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, exhibits a notable increase of 9.9 billion birr.
