Addis Ababa, September 18, 2020 (FBC) –The Addis Ababa city administration has provided 29 million birr worth assistance to communities affected by flooding in various parts of the country.
The emergency assistance was raised by the city administration, Prosperity Party (PP) Youth League, volunteers and Amibara Plc.
According to Adanech Abiebie, deputy mayor of Addis Ababa city, communities affected by flooding in Afar have received 12 million birr worth assistance.
The city administration has distributed 8 million birr worth aid to people in Oromia, 5 million birr in Amhara and 4 million birr in SNNP regional states, she said in her Facebook account.
In a related development, a delegation from Oromia regional state, led by Shimeles Abdissa, chief administrator of the regional state, today visited communities displaced by the flooding in Afar.
During the visit, the delegation provided food assistance and non-food item support to the people affected due to the overflow of the Awash River.
