Addis Ababa, August 23, 2022 (FBC) – The Embassy participated on “China International Sesame Conference 2022” which was co-organized by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and China Chamber of Commerce of Food Staff, Native Produce and Animal Bi-Products on Monday.
In his remark during the opening ceremony, Ambassador Dawano Kedir – Deputy Head of Mission noted that out of the many agricultural export products, sesame stands second to coffee in bringing a huge amount of foreign currency to Ethiopia.
Moreover, he called on Chinese sesame buyers and investors to buy a significant amount of sesame from Ethiopia and supply it to the vast and highly demanding Chinese market.
And drawing attention to the government’s compelling incentive packages, he encouraged them to invest in the cooking oil processing sector in Ethiopia.
Sisay Asmare – President of the Ethiopian Pulses, Oil Seeds and Spices Processors-Exporters Association, on his part virtually explained about Ethiopia’s sesame production potentials and the overall annual sesame production capacity of the country to the conference participants.
