Addis Ababa, May 15, 2023 (FBC) – Ambassador, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to China, Tefera Derbew had a fruitful discussion with Li Mingquan, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipality.
During the discussion, Ambassador Tefera stated that Ethiopia-China partnership and cooperation has been one of the key drivers of Ethiopia’s economic growth.
“Ethiopia exceptionally values and recognizes the indispensable role that China has been playing as its major trusted development partner,” he said.
Chongqing is a pioneering province in southwest China by encouraging its public and private enterprises to explore trade and investment opportunities in Ethiopia, the Ambassador stated.
Ambassador Tefera commended the Foreign Affair Office and the Department of Commerce of Chongqing Municipality for coordinating and assisting the Chongqing delegation and other companies in participating in Ethiopia’s high-level investment forum that was held in Addis Ababa from April 26–28, 2023.
The Ambassador called upon the Foreign Affair Office of Chongqing to enhance its effort by coordinating and assisting Chongqing companies to look towards Ethiopia as their favorable investment destination.
Li Mingquan, on his part, said that the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (CSCP) between Ethiopia and China has been playing a great role in enhancing investment, trade, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
He promised to work jointly with the Ethiopian Embassy to encourage Chinese companies in Chongqing to prefer Ethiopia as their business destination.
