“Chinese Bridge” final competition concludes in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, June 5, 2024 (FBC) – The final round of the 23rd “Chinese Bridge” competition concluded today in the capital Addis Ababa, with 11 students from universities and secondary schools contesting the championship.

The winner, Abdulhafiz Kedir is said to participate in the Final Competition to be held in China this summer as the runner-up, Alemu Seyoum is invited to watch the contest.

State Minister for Education, Ashenafi Tushune, said the contest will play a significant role in bumping up the burgeoning China – Ethiopia relations play and boost cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Learning the Mandarin (Chinese), Ethiopia students will benefit from widening job opportunities, he added.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Addis Ababa, Shen Qinmin, for his part, stated that the teaching of the Mandarin language will have a paramount significance in strengthening people to people relations between Ethiopia and China.

Likewise, he said, Amharic language is now being offered in Chinese educational institutions to further cement the people to people and cultural ties between the two countries.
