Addis Ababa, January 25, 2022 (FBC) – The Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Kenya, Meles Alem, virtually conferred with his Chinese counterpart, Zhou Pingjian (PhD) yesterday.
Ambassador Meles briefed Ambassador Zhou Pingjian on the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), and the efforts of the Federal Government to bring about peace, unity and prosperity to the People of Ethiopia.
Ambassador Meles also commended China’s unwavering and principled position on the “African Solutions to African Problems” with respect to the tripartite negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) as well as its respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ethiopia.
Ambassador Zhou Pingjian, on his part, expressed the hopes and aspirations of his country towards realizing the peace, unity and prosperity of Ethiopia as well as the peaceful resolution of the differences in respect to the GERD issue.
Ambassador Zhou Pingjian also briefed Ambassador Meles about China’s ‘Initiative of Peaceful Development in the Horn of Africa’ proposal to support regional countries in addressing security, development and governance challenges.
