BEIJING, June 18 (Sputnik) – China will continue to work with the international community and make efforts to promote a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis, the Chinese Foreign Ministry told Sputnik on Monday.
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia would immediately cease fire and begin negotiations with Ukraine after Kiev withdraws troops from the regions incorporated into Russia in 2022 and officially abandons plans to join NATO.
“We have taken note of the relevant statements. China has always maintained an objective and fair position on the Ukrainian issue and has resolutely and actively promoted peace talks. China will continue to work with the international community, making relentless efforts to promote a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis,” the ministry said when asked to comment on Putin’s terms for ceasefire.
China is also ready to work together with Russia and the international community to implement the concept of common and sustainable security, the ministry added.
