Addis Ababa, March 11, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Water and Energy, Engineer Habtamu Ittefa, met with the General Manager of China Energy Construction International Group, Mr. Qiao Xubin, and his delegation today to discuss investment opportunities in the Eas African nation’s energy sector.
During their discussions, the two sides explored the company’s potential role in enhancing Ethiopia’s power transmission infrastructure and expanding access to solar energy in off-grid areas. They also deliberated on groundwater exploration and drilling, as well as the construction of sanitation and sewage treatment facilities, according to a statement from the Ethiopian Ministry of Water and Energy.
The meeting underscored Ethiopia’s vast renewable energy potential, with officials highlighting how the country’s public-private partnership policy creates a conducive environment for investment in the energy sector.
Mr. Qiao Xubin noted that his company has extensive experience in energy development and has successfully undertaken large-scale projects across China and Africa.
