Addis Ababa, August 15, 2024 (FBC) – The People’s Republic of China has unveiled a scholarship program offering more than 300 Ethiopian students the opportunity to pursue their higher education in its institutions for free. This announcement was made during a farewell event at the Chinese Embassy in Addis Ababa today.
Among the beneficiaries, 25 students attended the ceremony to mark their upcoming journey. Deputy Chief of Mission at Chinese Embassy in Addis Ababa, Shen Qinmin emphasized the strong collaboration between China and Ethiopia across various sectors.
He highlighted that these scholarships are part of China’s ongoing commitment to support Ethiopian students each year, fostering professional development.
Idossa Terfassa, the Head of the Scholarship and Internationalization Desk at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education, expressed optimism that the knowledge the students are going to gain from Chinese higher education institutions will play a crucial role in advancing technology transfer in Ethiopia.
