Addis Ababa, July 2, 2024 (FBC) – Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, is paying working visit to Uganda at the invitation of Chief of Defense Forces of the Ugandan People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Field Marshal Birhanu Jula and his delegation were accorded warm welcome by Commander of Land Forces in UPDF, Lt. Gen Kayanja Muhanga, Ethiopian Ambassador to Uganda, Etsegenet Bezabih and other officials upon their arrival at Entebe International Airport.
Field Marshal Birhanu and Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba discussed way of enhancing military cooperation between Ethiopia and Uganda and strengthening the role of their respective countries in maintaining peace and security in the region.
Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba commended the bilateral relations between Uganda and Ethiopia as longstanding and historical dating back to the Axumite period.
Field Marshal Birhanu, for his part, stated that the bilateral relations between the two countries has transformed into a strategic level, highlighting the role of the two nations in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
The two sides agreed to cement collaboration on military capacity building and related areas.
Field Marshal Brigham Jula is expected to meet with President Yoweri Museveni of the Republic of Uganda tomorrow.
